It was a night of celebration, inspiration and victory, as six women graduated from the rehabilitation program offered by Grace and Mercy in a ceremony Thursday night.
The event also acts a fundraising banquet to support Grace and Mercy’s mission, and Board Chair Paula Halcomb says nothing they do would be possible without the unending generosity of the community. She says they remain awed by the support they receive.
With the graduation of these six women, it brings the total number of those who have successfully completed the long-term rehabilitation program up to 84 since Grace and Mercy first began.
Carolyn Self has been with them every step of the way and became emotional Thursday night, saying that there’s been plenty that haven’t made it in their journey yet, but she has hope that one day they will.
Graduate Stephanie Mancure of Hopkinsville says it was a long journey, but worth every hardship, every hard night and every hurtle jumped to be right with God, her family and herself.
Grace and Mercy raised roughly $140,000 by the end of the event, with the goal of raising $200,000 to help fund not just their regular operations, but also support their ongoing project to transform an older home on South Main Street into apartments for their graduates.
