Two Princeton residents are facing numerous charges following a standoff at the Dollar General on KY 293 south of Eddyville Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, an off-duty deputy was at the store around 4:40 p.m. when he noticed a vehicle that was driven by the suspect of several recent thefts, that was parked at the store. Sheriff Brent White responded and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.
However, the driver attempted to flee, but the sheriff blocked his path—the truck attempted to push the cruiser into KY 293, but he was prevented from doing so.
That’s when the suspect allegedly pulled a handgun in front of a passenger in the vehicle, leading to a long standoff between the driver, passenger and law enforcement.
Just after 6 p.m. the standoff came to an end, without further incident.
The driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old Thomas Prevatte of Princeton, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree terroristic threatening. He was additionally charged with criminal trespassing and felony theft by unlawful taking of an automobile, and complicity to theft by unlawful taking.
The passenger, 48-year-old Angela Egbert of Princeton is charged with complicity to theft by unlawful taking, felony theft of an automobile and criminal trespassing.
