Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Jevartaye Thomas and 25-year-old Makayla Holmes both of Hopkinsville after law enforcement reportedly found an AR-style rifle in their residence on Tuesday.
According to a report, deputies performed a traffic stop on Thomas’ vehicle because it was believed to be connected to an active drug investigation. Deputies searched Thomas’ car after reportedly smelling marijuana on him.
Thomas reportedly admitted to having some more marijuana at his home which led to deputies search his home. He refused to provide his address, but the responding deputy contacted Holmes who reportedly confirmed that Thomas lived with her.
At the residence, deputies reportedly found an unsecured AR-style rifle and a large amount of marijuana. Deputies also reported that the firearm and marijuana were accessible to children in the home.
The pair were both charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and endangering the welfare of a minor. Thomas was additionally charged with trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, failure to maintain vehicle insurance and other vehicle related charges.
