As Kentucky State Police investigate the fatal collision that occurred Saturday evening between a semi-truck and a sedan in Hopkinsville, more details have been made public.
The wreck happened on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Popshelf where a sedan operated by 33-year-old Bernice Franklin of Clarksville collided with and became wedged under a semi-truck operated by 36-year-old Gerasimos Livieratos of Illinois.
According to a preliminary investigation, Livieratos was traveling southbound on the boulevard when he attempted to make a U-turn. As he was turning, Franklin, who was traveling north, collided with the semi-truck. Franklin was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Livieratos was arrested and charged with reckless driving, failure to or improper signaling, improper turning, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while under the influence of a substance and vehicular homicide while under the influence of drugs.
