A total of five patients were transported from the scene of a two-vehicle crash on I-24 in Christian County Saturday afternoon.
The wreck happened near the 86-mile-marker at just before 5:20 p.m. and shutdown the eastbound lanes as first responders worked to land a helicopter on the roadway. Three patients, two children and one adult female, were transported by EMS to Vanderbilt Clarksville, according to Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Captain Payton Rogers. All injuries were believed to be serious in nature.
One minor patient was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt Pediatrics in Nashville for treatment. CPR was performed on scene to the adult female patient by EMS until she could be transported.
Fort Campbell EMS assisted at the scene, along with Oak Grove Fire Department, Christian County Sheriff’s, Christian County Rescue Squad and the Hopkinsville Police Department.
