Christian County has made the cut in the Governor’s Recommended Road Plan, as he included reconstruction of Kentucky 115 from the Industrial Park to I-24 in Christian County in the proposal.
Local officials have been pushing for that project to take place for many years, as many feel that section of KY 115 could be a big location for economic development. The governor’s plan includes almost $600 million yearly in state and federal funding to address pavement and bridge repairs. Kentucky owns and maintains over 9,000 bridges and over 63,000 lane-miles of pavement. That’s the seventh-largest bridge system and eighth-largest pavement system in the nation.
The governor says it’s a six-year plan that focuses on maintaining current infrastructure while expanding and improving as needed.
He says he plans to work the General Assembly as they also work on their own Road Plan.
The General Assembly has until April 15 to pass a Road Plan, and it will likely undergo numerous changes before a final version is passed.
