Post-wide training for Fort Campbell set to begin next week

Next week, Fort Campbell will be conducting an installation-wide training exercise, designed to test the installation’s emergency preparedness.

According to a news release, the training will take place from May 5 through May 8, and citizens on and around Fort Campbell may see or hear increased security and first-responder activities associated with said training. This could include simulated gunfire, small explosive sounds, emergency notification loudspeaker announcements, training smoke, and increased emergency response ground and air vehicle activity.

There will be no safety risk involved, as the simulated gunfire and explosives will use ‘blanks’. Emergency services will continue to be available during the exercise for any real-world emergencies.

This will be a multi-agency operation, testing their response to realistic scenarios.
