Deputies from the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Teona Williams of Greenville, North Carolina after she was allegedly the passenger in a car during a pursuit Sunday night.
According to a report, a deputy witnessed a vehicle driving on Fort Campbell Boulevard in the area of Eagle Way Bypass and claims the car was swerving and driving in the middle of the roadway. When the deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop, the car reportedly fled north on the Boulevard.
The car reportedly exceeded speeds of 100 mph, disregarded traffic control devices and drove in the shoulder of the roadway during the pursuit. The pursuit continued to the area of Oak Street and Poston Avenue where deputies found the car abandoned in the roadway.
Williams was later identified as the passenger in the car and she reportedly told deputies that a Black male was driving the vehicle. Deputies searched the area and deployed a K9, but they were not able to locate the alleged driver.
A search of the vehicle reportedly unveiled a backpack containing Williams’ identifying information and a handgun loaded with hollow point ammunition. Deputies also allegedly found marijuana, packaged marijuana edibles, a scale and tablets, which are believed to be narcotics. Williams told deputies that the gun belongs to her, but the drugs did not.
Williams was charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, trafficking marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and possession of restricted ammunition. The alleged driver has not yet been located.
