An offer is on the table in the assault case against Jeffrey Proffitt, as he was allowed more time to consider his options.
Jarrod Jackson represents Proffitt—who is facing charges of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon—and informed the court Wednesday that they have an offer from the Commonwealth, they just more time to consider it.
Another pretrial hearing was set for February 28.
As previously reported, Proffitt is accused of shooting a female victim in the leg at a residence on Petsch Lane in June.
The victim had to be flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Investigation determined that the victim and Proffitt had been in an argument when he allegedly retrieved a handgun and brandished it during the argument—the gun went off, striking the victim.
