Western Kentucky State Fair returns for 75th anniversary June 26 through July 4

It’s almost time for the return of the Western Kentucky State Fair, it’s a full line-up of events and fun scheduled for the end of June and beginning of July to celebrate the 75th fair.

The dates this year will be June 26 through July 4, and it will bring back all of the community’s favorites, from food to rides to events, while also bringing new shows and attractions for folks to enjoy. Barry Cornelius with the fair boards says there will be plenty of events in the grand stands, including tractor pulls, the ever popular demolition derby, go-kart racing and so much more, which means the dirt will be moving at the tracks.

And when we say it’s a full line up of events, we’re not joking around. It all kicks off Friday, June 26 with 4×4 Truck Mud racing in the grandstands and line dancing in the air conditioned convention center. Gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27 and brings the Demolition Derby to the grandstands that night at 7 p.m., and Cornelius says it’s also Pageant Day in the convention center.

The following Sunday is Faith and Family Day, where folks in get in free from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. with a church bulletin, and then Monday, June 29 it’s only 75 cents to enter the fair, in honor of the fair’s anniversary.

Tuesday, June 30 is Pennyrile Electric Day, where Pennyrile Electric members will get in free with a coupon until 6 p.m., and that is Go-Kart racing night in the grandstands. July 1 will be Military and First Responders Day—military and first-responders get in free and have access to $10 armbands for rides.

Thursday, July 2 is Christian County Farm Bureau Day with free admission for members who have a coupon until 6 p.m. and it starts the first of tractor pulls with Farm and Altered Tractor and Truck Pulls in the grandstands. July 3 continues to fun with the Mid-South Truck and Tractor Pulls in the grandstands, a corn hole tournament in the convention center and of course rides and the petting zoo.

It all wraps up July 4, in celebration of both the 75 anniversary of the fair and the 250th birthday of the United States. It’s City of Hopkinsville Day at the fair, with wrestling in the convention center, Mid-South Truck and Tractor Pulls in the grandstands, and a big fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

Box seats are still up for purchase for those interested, with Cornelius saying you can contact someone with the Fair Board and they’ll get you set up.
