Local Boys and Girls Club breaks ground on the Tween Center

To provide a dedicated space for middle school members, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys and Girls Club hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for its upcoming Tween Center.

At August’s Great Future’s Luncheon, Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Terrence Davis announced their plans to construct a Tween Center for sixth and seventh grade students. Davis says the Tween Center will complete their campus updates, and once it’s constructed, the club will have dedicated spaces for members of all ages.

In the Tween Center, Davis says members will be able to work on schoolwork, receive tutoring and participate in STEM and recreational activities

Boys and Girls Club Board Chair Cody Noffsinger says the expansion will allow the club to increase its daily capacity to 200 members.

The Tween Center will be constructed between the club’s cafeteria and kitchen, and it’s expected to be completed in the fall.
