Woodlands Nature Station in LBL welcomes new Red Wolf, Rosie

The Woodlands Nature Station in the Land Between the Lakes is welcoming a new face, as red wolf Rosie will join the ranks of the animals that call the wildlife station home.

Rosie is a two-year-old female Red Wolf that comes from the Trevor Lovejoy Zoo in New York, and she’s settling in with red wolf Percy, who already calls the Nature Station home. This move comes after the prior female red wolf unexpectedly passed last year, leaving Percy alone in his enclosure, which is not preferred for a pack animal such as the red wolf.

Now, he’ll have company in Rosie, with officials saying she is settling in well and the two will make great companions for each other. You can go visit Rosie and Percy at the Nature Station, with feeding programs taking place at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The Woodlands Nature Station houses red wolves and educates the public about this endangered animal as part of the American Zoo Association’s SAFE American Red Wolf program. They work in partnership with 50 other organizations to help conserve this endangered species.

The Woodlands Nature Station can be found at 3146 Silver Trail Road in Cadiz, Kentucky.
