Aldi has called Hopkinsville home for a long time, but now, they’ve got a new location that is officially open for business on Clinic Drive.
Folks have seen the work happening at the building that once housed Office Max on Clinic Drive off of Fort Campbell Boulevard, but now that work is complete and the ribbon was cut Thursday morning. The first 200 people who attended were set to receive a goodie bag and gift cards, but that number was easily surpassed as a line of people wrapped around the building, crossed the parking lot and started to make it’s way towards Freddy’s nearby.
The first person in line was Cathy Castille, with her family, and she tells WHOP News that she was there at 3 a.m. to get the first spot. Calling herself Aldi’s number one fan, she says this is new store is very exciting.
Store Manager Anita Roman was the manager of the former location as well, and she thinks shoppers will be thrilled with the bright, roomier store and if you’ve never shopped at Aldi, she encourages you to give it a try.
Roman was delighted with the turnout, saying it was better than they could have hoped and their hearts were filled by the community support.
Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight is an Aldi shopper himself, and he says this move will only benefit the people of this community, and as Aldi works closely with Kitchen Food Company, he says it was a match made in heaven.
Aldi can now be found at 190 Clinic Drive, meaning their former location is now closed. This latest opening brings ALDI one step closer to its goal of having 3,200 stores by the end of 2028.
