St. Elmo Homemakers BBQ returns to Bradshaw Road on Thursday

The St. Elmo Homemakers are bringing BBQ, fun and fellowship back to the old schoolhouse on Bradshaw Road, and the community is invited to attend.

The St. Elmo Annual BBQ has become a staple in the community and is hosted at one of the few remaining one-room schoolhouses, St. Elmo School. Speaking with WHOP recently, Homemaker Kathleen Carter says the Homemakers took ownership of the school many years ago now, and the first of the BBQs began not too long after to raise funds to upkeep the building.

A big renovation began in earnest in 2022 and Carter says a lot has already been accomplished, but now, they’re looking to get even more started inside of the building.

That means they’re looking to have a great fundraising effort at the BBQ set for Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Glass Farms, located at 8500 Bradshaw Road. Tickets are $15 a piece and Carter says you can get one from any Homemaker and P&S Farm Toys.

Along with the food, there will be a Country Store where you can get all kinds of items, raffle tickets for prizes and a silent auction taking place.

A ticket gets you the BBQ, all the side dishes and fixins’, desert and a drink. For more information on the event, or to get a ticket, contact the St. Elmo Homemakers Club.
