Officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department charged 33-year-old Shycorian Bailey of Hopkinsville for assault after he reportedly punched an officer in the face on Monday.
According to a report from Police, Bailey was witnessed driving recklessly and responding officers conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle near the intersection of South Main and East 16th Streets. Bailey was charged with reckless driving and other lesser charges.
Once he was lodged in the Christian County Jail, Bailey reportedly pretended to be unconscious and would not respond to law enforcement. Bailey was then transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center to receive medical clearance.
As they were in route to the hospital, Bailey reportedly made threats to an EMS personnel saying that if he ever got out of jail, he would pay for it. Then once at the hospital, Bailey reportedly continued to threaten officers saying that he would kill them or have someone he knows kill them.
Bailey had to be restrained and as he was attempting to get up from the hospital bed, he reportedly struck one of the responding officers in the face. The report also shares that throughout the incident it was apparent that Bailey was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics.
Bailey was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer and third-degree terroristic threatening.
