Apartment building extensively damaged in Oak Grove fire

An apartment building was extensively damaged in a fire early Tuesday morning in Oak Grove and several residents have been displaced.

Speaking with WHOP News, Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the fire likely began in the kitchen of one of the units of the Metrovilla Apartments on Pembroke-Oak Grove Road and quickly spread—everyone was able to safely evacuate.

The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, and Fort Campbell Fire Department all responded to the scene to battle the blaze around 4 a.m., with Graham calling it a major fire and they’re glad no one was injured.

The occupants of four apartments have been displaced with the American Red Cross called to assist. The building is likely a total loss and crews were on scene well into the morning getting the blaze fully under control.
