Art Camps, aspiring young artists take over the Alhambra for the summer

While school may be out for summer break locally, a lot of area students are taking advantage of the time off to pursue the arts, including with the Pennyroyal Arts Council.

Speaking with WHOP Radio on Wednesday, Arts Council Executive Director Margaret Prim says they have many summer programs in store this year, with their annual Visual Art camp underway, where aspiring young arts are calling the Alhambra home while they hone their skills.

Many people think of the performance arts, such as music, dancing and singing when they think of the Arts Council, but Prim says they’ve had a hand in the visual arts for years, including a Mural Camp that has brought many art pieces to the landscape of Hopkinsville.

Campanile Productions will be hosting their own camps in July on that historic stage, and Prim says to be able to help play a role in the development of a young artist is truly something special.

You can find out more about the summer programming for the Arts Council, including their Movies at the Alhambra season set to start on June 16 and run through December, by visiting the Pennyroyal Arts Council Facebook page.
