Bitter cold to linger through at least Wednesday

The bitter cold is set to continue through at least the mid-week, with wind chills set to bring it down below zero for much of the area.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, air temperatures will reach the ten’s and 20’s for high temperatures during the day, and the overnight lows will drop into the single digits or even lower. Then, temperatures will moderate back to near normal ranges after Wednesday.

There are some small chances for snow flurries throughout the week, but for the most part, things look to stay dry for the work week.

Citizens are encouraged to continue taking the necessary precautions if you must go outside during extreme cold temperatures—make sure you wear plenty of insulating layers, gloves and a hat, protecting the skin from exposure.

If you can, bring pets inside, but if you can’t, make sure to provide them with adequate, warm shelter and continual fresh water that is not frozen.  Also, make sure you’re using alternative heat sources responsibly.
