Bond modification denied for Oak Grove murder suspect

After having a new trial date set last week, murder suspect Oziya Narcisse was back in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning to argue for a bond modification.

He appeared alongside defense attorney Olivia Adams and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Gilbert in front of Judge John Atkins, and Adams argued for a bond reduction. She says this began when he was under the age of 18, and he will have been incarcerated for nearly two years by the time of trial in April, with delays to trial being no fault of his.

Gilbert says nothing has changed since the last bond hearing—Narcisse remains charged with murder in the fatal shooting death of Isaiah McCoy at a party in Oak Grove in 2024—and the judge denied bond at that time.

Following some brief arguments about trial readiness and the possible existence, or non-existence, of ballistics evidence, Judge Atkins ruled against bond modification at this time, and urged both parties to get this evidence issue straightened out.

Narcisse is set for trial in April of 2026, with the trial expected to last approximately a week. Judge Atkins set another pretrial hearing for December 3, saying he hopes to hear answers to the defense’s questions, and if any evidence needs further testing, that needs to be handled as promptly as possible.
