It may have been stormy and dark outside, but inside the Alhambra Theatre it was full of light, laughter and music for the 20th Brice Long Back-2-Back Foundation Concert.
And it was a full house, as community members filled the seats to support the cause—the Back-2-Back Foundation helps families in need in Christian, Todd and Trigg Counties all throughout the year now, but especially at Christmas time by helping them have the best holidays they can.
The Pennyroyal Arts Council and the Alhambra itself has benefited from the Foundation and Executive Director Margaret Prim says it’s always a joy to have Long and his friends come home and play on the stage.
Right before heading on stage, Long told WHOP News it can be easy to get nervous before a show, but it helps that he had great musicians on stage with him that make it fun. And so does being home, on a stage he’s played on since he was a child, all in the effort of supporting local families.
He says easily, his favorite part of putting on this show—outside of tremendous support from the community and the sponsors—is making a difference, no matter how small, in the lives of those families in need.
Long took the time to remember those who are gone who played a big role in the Back-2-Back Foundation, including Emily Pyle, Mary Ann Claxton, Carol Bugg, Tommy Gamble, and his own father, Jarrell Long. Long said he felt all them there at the Alhambra that night and knows that one day, they will all see each other again.
Brice was joined on stage by singers and songwriters Trannie Anderson, Ryan Larkins and Marv Green, who all shared stories of their experiences in country music, their tales of writing and playing, all while raising money to support families right here in western Kentucky,
There’s still time to donate to the cause—you can do so online at back2backfoundation.org, or text B2B at 44-321.
