Officers from the Cadiz Police Department arrested Elizabeth Waldron and Jacob Walters of Wisconsin after a traffic stop yielded drug paraphernalia on Tuesday.
According to a report from police, Waldron and Walters were seen in a vehicle speeding on Highway 68/80. Police performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and that is when Walters reportedly exited the vehicle and fled into the woods.
Officers made contact with Waldron who was operating the vehicle and she was taken into custody after a search of her vehicle reportedly revealed marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Police searched the woods near the traffic stop in an attempt to locate Walters, which was initially unsuccessful. A motorist in the area then reportedly contacted dispatch about a man who was walking on Canton Road and attempting to flag down vehicles.
Officer searched along Canton Road and reportedly located Walters who had multiple lacerations to his face, arms, hands and feet consistent with running through the woods in the dark. Walters was treated for his injuries and taken into custody.
Both Waldron and Walters were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Waldron was additionally charged with speeding, not having a vehicle registration, improper registration plates and failure to maintain vehicle insurance. Walters was additionally charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
