Caldwell names CCHS’s Ivory as head basketball coach

Caldwell County High School introduced its new boys’ basketball coach during a ceremony Thursday afternoon in Princeton and he is a familar name to basketball fans in Hopkinsville and Christian County. 

Kortez Ivory, who played at Christian County and who has been a middle and high school coach for the Colonels for many years, was introduced as the Tigers’ next coach.  

Ivory said he was excited to have his first opportunity to coach at the varsity level. 

Ivory played for Kerry Stovall and later joined Stovall’s staff. Ivory said he made a decision he wanted to be a head coach while on former Colonels’ coach Toby Miles’ staff.  

He also was on the staff of Dior Curtis for the last two seasons and said Curtis was a major influence on him as a coach.  

Caldwell County Athletic Director Jeff Riley said he was impressed with Ivory at his interview. 

Ivory was named as an assistant to Stovall for the new Christian County High School Tigers when Stovall was introduced as the program’s first coach. He leaves to take over a Caldwell program that returns several key playes from this year’s 14-16 squad. replaces Chuck Mitchell, who resigned following the season.
