Campanile Productions is preparing to transport audiences to the 1970s for its production of “9 to 5: The Musical.”
“9 to 5” is a comedy movie from 1980 that follows three female office workers played by Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda who plan to take revenge on their sexist boss. The movie was later turned into a musical.
Campanile Director Jeff Riggs says the musical follows the same plot as the movie, will feature a lot of comedy and might make people reflect on some of the obstacles women face in the workforce.
Along with the comedy, Riggs says there will be a lot of music, dancing and set changes. He also shared that the musical is PG-13.
The shows will take over the Alhambra Theatre starting on March 12 with pay-what-you-can night. Then there will be three evening shows and one matinee show from March 13 to March 16. Riggs says tickets cost between $25 and $20 for adults and between $20 and $15 for children.
Tickets are available at campanileproductions.com.
