As the end of the school year approaches, the Christian County Public School System is set to host screenings for children enrolling in preschool for the 2025-2026 academic year.
CCPS School Readiness Coordinator Kaitlynne Bolinger recently appeared on WHOP to share how parents can get their kiddos screened and enrolled. Children that are 3 or 4 years olds are eligible for preschool and she says the screening will assess a child’s development to see if they are ready for preschool.
The screening will include color recognition and language skills. Bolinger says preschool can play a vital role in early childhood learning because in the first five years of a child’s life up to 90% of their brain develops.
Screenings will be hosted on March 28, April 25 and May 16 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Early Learning Center and at other CCPS schools with a preschool department. Parents can fill out a preschool application at christian.kyschools.us.
