The Christian County Sheriff’s Office is putting out the alert to county residents of an increase in asphalt paving scams in the area.
The Better Business Bureau is reporting that untrustworthy contractors are targeting homeowners with offers to pave or repair driveways using leftover materials from nearby jobs. They often demand high, upfront payments and then either disappear without doing the work or deliver a poor job.
CCSO urges citizens to protect themselves by being cautious of unsolicited officers, research contractors thoroughly before hiring, make sure contracts are in writing, avoid paying the full amount upfront and use safe payment methods.
You can always report any suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Office.
