The Christian County Farm Bureau hosted a legislative meet and greet event Monday morning, where attendees got a chance to meet with legislators and talk priorities.
Greg Campbell is the president of the local Farm Bureau—though he is set to step down from the roll in December—and says they host this event each year to thank their local, state and federal legislators for all they do to advocate for their communities and farmers.
He says the Farm Bureau depends on their legislators to fight for them in Frankfort and in Washington D.C.
Campbell says one thing they continue to wait on federal is the passage of the Farm Bill—the fate of which continues to remain up in the air—and he says farmers face hardships of all times, from a global economy down to weather patterns.
Campbell says farmers depend on their representation in government, to help navigate an ever-changing industry. Barry Cornelius will take over as president of the Christian County Farm Bureau when Campbell steps down.
