Christian Co. Jailer Adam Smith announces he will seek reelection

Christian County Jailer Adam Smith has announced that he will run for reelection to that seat in 2026, joining the growing list of filings and announcements.

In a news release, Smith pledges to keep building on the progress he feels the jail has made during his first term, including improving safety, strengthening community partnerships, and making sure the jail is self-sustaining and efficient. Smith says he’s worked to implement significant upgrades to enhance both safety and accountability, including updating the jail’s camera system, equipping each deputy with a taser, expanded community service programs and expanding inmate services and rehabilitation programs.

Smith says he and his administration have also pushed to have the jail become self-sustaining and less dependent on county government funding, including new contracts with Graves County, the U.S. Marshals Service, Fort Campbell and ICE.

Smith says, “We’ve made real progress, but there’s more work to do. I’m running for reelection to continue improving safety, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring our jail remains an example of responsibility, rehabilitation, and respect for the taxpayers of Christian County.”
