Christian Fiscal Court made quick work of their agenda at Tuesday morning’s meeting, approving grant opportunities and agreements with Fort Campbell.
First on the list was a change order regarding construction and renovations happening at the Judge-Executive’s Office, and then magistrates approved grants regarding the Pennyrile Park Mountain Bike project and for work to be done at the Western Hills Public Golf Course. Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam says the grant will pave the way for cart storage and other items.
Also approved by magistrates was a right of entry with Fort Campbell, with Judge Gilliam saying it will allow the Department of the Army to conduct ‘modern warfare’ training in Hopkinsville, using county-owned property.
Christian County Regional Animal Shelter Director Melissa Goff presented her monthly report to the magistrates, saying the shelter took in 466 animals in the month of August, and roughly 265 cats and dogs were either adopted or went to rescues.
Magistrate Russ Guffey implored citizens to do what they can to cut down on pet over-population, starting with getting their pets spayed or neutered.
In other action, magistrates approved a road warranty agreement and a road encroachment permit, along with transferring two travel-trailers that were used to house families who had lost their homes due to severe weather, now to Christian County Emergency Management.
