Christian Fiscal Court hears update on Road Aid Fund, grants

It was an informative meeting of the Christian Fiscal Court Tuesday morning, as magistrates heard updates from the Judge-Executive about funds and legislative priorities.

It wasn’t purely informative however, as magistrates voted to approved grant funds for the Christian County Animal Shelter and to adopt a community corrections grant. Erica Miller presented the monthly report from the animal shelter, which reported taking in 210 animals in the month of December, with 193 leaving the shelter through adoptions or rescues.

Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam says they were notified that they have received approximately $1.7 million to go towards a sewer study for Commerce Park #2, which he calls a good investment.

Judge Gilliam says on the flip side of that, they have not yet been adequately reimbursed by the state for the Road Aid Fund. They were supposed to receive a 30 percent installment, but instead, only received 13 percent—he says they’re in contact with Frankfort to get that corrected.

In other action, magistrates approved a declaration of surplus for the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and adoption of a resolution to apply for a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant to allow for the purchasing of new equipment for that agency.
