City of Hopkinsville installs downtown entertainment district signs

Last year, Hopkinsville City Council approved establishing a Downtown Entertainment District and the City has started posting signs outlining the district on Monday.

Within the district, folks can purchase alcoholic beverages from participating establishments and consume them freely while walking through the area.

According to the city, the district will create new opportunities for social engagement, tourism and economic growth. The city expects the district to enhance experiences at events, concerts and other outings.

Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight says the district is an exciting step forward in making downtown a more dynamic and inviting area. The district is set to open during the summer following state inspection and approval. An official launch event is set to be announced in the coming months.
