The City of Madisonville has had a tremendous year, with retail and economic developments and announcements, and they seem on course to continue that trend into 2026.
Speaking with whop news on Tuesday, Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton says there are things in the works that he can’t announce just yet, but he believes 2026 is going to be a big year for Madisonville, with several projects in the works and construction underway.
Hopkins County’s Western Kentucky Speedway has come under new ownership with Doyle Ware and AJ Newberry, along with Jon Watkins and the Ware family, and work is underway to revitalize that track.
With the recent closure of the Clarksville Speedway, a good portion of the red clay that made up the track there has found a new home in Madisonville at the Western Kentucky Speedway, and mayor cotton says that’s a big boon to that speedway and they’re glad to see it gain new life.
Deck the Park is still ongoing until January 1, so City Administrator Brad Long says it’s not too late to make a fun stop in Madisonville for the holidays.
