City of Pembroke issues burn ban

The City of Pembroke has issued a burn ban for Pembroke City limits, due to the ongoing drought conditions happening in the region.

The burn ban is in effect immediately and until further notice, until a measurable amount of rain falls that will impact high fire hazard conditions. According to the executive order signed by Mayor Jeanette Aldridge, the ban includes all outdoor burning activities such as open flames, camp fires, bonfires, trash or debris burning, fireworks and other burns that have an open flame.

The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department and other authorities have been directed to strictly enforce this burn ban.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution and to report any fires immediately to the appropriate authorities.
