Three Kentucky officials team up to request that the Trump administration remove regulations on Kentucky water resources and give power back to the Commonwealth.
The officials in charge of the request are Attorney General Russell Coleman, Agriculture Commissioner Jonathan Shell and Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources Commissioner Rich Storm. The plea was made to the new administration after numerous attempts to fight the decision made during previous administrations.
According to a news release from Coleman’s office, Kentucky waterways are the center of America’s inland water routes and have more miles of commercial navigable waters than any other state except Alaska.
Shell comments on the matter, saying Kentucky farmers are the original conservationists and he would like to see that jurisdiction returned to the Commonwealth. He adds he feels the initial regulation was an overreach in power and views the request as protecting the rights of Kentucky.
