Ward Eight Hopkinsville City Council Member Seth Meek recently announced his resignation and Sunday will be his final day in the position, now the search begins to fill his vacancy.
Meek was elected to the city council in 2025 and now council members are tasked with filling his vacancy. City Clerk Brittany Byrum says council members have until April 14 to select a candidate for the position or that decision will end up in the hands of Governor Andy Beshear.
At Tuesday’s city council meeting, council members will be presented with a timeline for finding a replacement. According to the memorandum, the application period will open on Tuesday and interested Ward Eight citizens can pick up an application from the Hopkinsville Municipal Building.
The application deadline is March 27, and council members will start reviewing the candidates. Then, at the council’s April 7 meeting, applicants will be interviewed in an open session and will vote to select an individual to serve the rest of Meek’s term.
