Proceedings were continued in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning in the murder case against Early Guillemet, the man charged in the murder of Dolores Hernandez.
Guillemet is represented by defense attorney Ramon McGee, who informed the court that his client has so far been unable to view the evidence against him due to policies at the Christian County Jail that require him to supervised while he does so—so he requested more time to meet with his client and go over it with him.
A recent mental evaluation was completed and McGee says they do accept the report that found Guillemet competent to stand trial.
Judge John Atkins set a pretrial hearing for August 7, with the hope of either having the case resolved by that time or setting it for trial.
Guillemet is accused of fatally shooting Hernandez in the 300 block of East 18th Street. Witnesses and security camera footage from the area identified a silver Chevy truck as leaving the scene after the shooting and a Black male with gray facial hair was seen walking towards the victim’s residence just moments before the shots fired call.
Police would also eventually recover the gun Guillemet allegedly used to kill Hernandez and he was arrested on charges of murder, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
