Deputies arrest man for driving stolen vehicle, drug trafficking

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Thomas Morris after he was reportedly found to be in possession of stolen vehicle and methamphetamine on Thursday.

Deputies performed a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Main Street after they observed the driver not wearing a seat belt. Law enforcement made contact with Morris, who was the driver, and a K9 alerted to narcotics.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a loaded handgun and fraudulent credit card materials. Once taken into custody, Morris was allegedly attempting to discard suspected methamphetamine while in the patrol car.

The vehicle Morris was driving was also confirmed to be stolen out of Memphis, Tennessee.

Morris was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle registration plate, having no registration plates, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and failure to wear a seat belt.
