Details released in Antioch Church Road fatality

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has released details about a fatal crash on Antioch Church Road on Saturday.

According to the collision report, deputies responded to the 10000 block of Antioch Church Road from reports of a crash, and upon arrival, found 55-year-old Darren Shelton of Hopkinsville laying unresponsive in a ditch. It’s unknown how long he had been there before being found by a passerby, and despite CPR and life-saving operations being performed, he would ultimately be pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner’s Office.

Investigation determined that Shelton was operating his motorcycle northbound on Antioch when a deer entered his path, and Shelton was unable to avoid a collision, striking the deer.

The motorcycle went off the roadway, and Shelton was ejected, landing roughly 30-feet down an embankment.
