Details released in fatal Greenville Road crash

Details have been released by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department about the fatal wreck on Greenville Road Thursday morning.

According to the collision report, a vehicle driven by 67-year-old Cindy Walker of Hopkinsville was attempting to make a left turn from Bypass Road onto Greenville Road and pulled into the path of another vehicle that was heading south on Greenville.

The front of the second vehicle, driven by 77-year-old Phyllis Dickerson of Hopkinsville, collided with Walker’s vehicle.  The collision sent Dickerson’s vehicle into a concrete wall, where it caught fire.

Two passerby’s—Ryan Plock of Bumpus Mills and Shawn Mitchell of Cadiz—were able to pull Dickerson and an 11-year-old passenger from the vehicle before it fully caught fire and became completely engulfed in flames.

The child was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, while Dickerson was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Walker was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
