More details have been released by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department on a fatal head-on collision that happened on Lovers’ Lane Friday night.
According to the collision report, it happened at approximately 9:40 p.m. when a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Douglas Jones of Hopkinsville was heading eastbound in the 1700 block of Lovers’ Lane, when he went off the right side of the roadway.
That’s when he reportedly struck a vehicle head-on that was stationary and out of the roadway, in a driveway and at a mailbox.
The driver of that vehicle, 77-year-old William “Ide” Bouldin of Hopkinsville, reportedly had the driver door open and was reaching out of the vehicle through the window when the collision occurred. Bouldin was ejected from the vehicle.
He was rushed to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he would be pronounced deceased. A passenger in his vehicle, 63-year-old Starr Bouldin, was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for injuries.
Jones’ vehicle continued forward for quite some distance before coming to a stop in a nearby driveway, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Alcohol is listed as a factor in the collision, with the investigation continuing.
