Four Disaster Recovery Centers are set to open this week in Christian, Trigg, Caldwell and Knox counties to help Kentuckians who experienced loss from the May severe storms.
That is any loss or damage of property from straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides and mudslides that occurred with severe storms from May 21 through May 27 of this year. According to a news release, the center in Caldwell County opened Tuesday at the Caldwell County Emergency Operations Center at 102 Northfield Drive in Princeton.
The mobile center in Christian County opened on Monday and will be open until Saturday at the Hopkinsville Public Works Complex at 705 North Main Street in Hopkinsville—in Trigg County, the center will be in the Trigg County Emergency Operations Center at 39 Jefferson Street in Cadiz. All centers are open through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
There are also centers currently open in Hopkins County at 114 Madison Square Driver in Madisonville and in Muhlenberg County at the Muhlenberg County Training Center at 61 Career Way.
Kentucky homeowners and renters in Butler, Caldwell, Calloway, Christian, Clay, Greenup, Hopkins, Knox, Logan, Muhlenberg, Simpson, Todd, Trigg, Warren and Whitley counties can apply for FEMA assistance at any of the Disaster Recovery Centers in Kentucky. FEMA representatives will help with applications for federal assistance and provide information about other disaster recovery resources.
Some of the financial assistance could include money for basic home repairs or other uninsured, disaster-related needs, such as childcare, transportation, medical needs, funeral or dental expenses.
