The Distinguished Young Women of Christian County program is dedicated to supporting young women in their pursuit of education and success, and the program’s 2026 winner appeared on WHOP Radio Monday to talk all about it.
Tori Flick is a senior at University Heights Academy and was named the Distinguished Young Woman of Christian County following the local competition in September of 2025. She went on to compete at the state level just a couple of weeks ago, and has now returned with learned experiences under her belt and a passion to get other young ladies involved.
Flick says she made a lot of friends—some of them likely friends for life—and she learned a lot about herself along the way.
Her advice to others who might be interested in taking part in the program is to be confident in yourself and learn how to do a good interview.
Kayleigh Stout is the Organization Chair and says the local Distinguished Young Women hosted its first program in 1964, but returned stronger than ever in 2009. She says organizations across the country host programs where participants compete in five categories, including talent, fitness, academics, self-expression and an interview.
She says each young woman competes to receive scholarship, and they awarded roughly $12,500 worth of scholarships in 2025. She says they’re currently recruiting for incoming seniors as they look towards this year’s program.
