Dry weather, above normal temperatures to continue this week

After the region received some much-needed rain last week, western Kentucky’s dry weather is set to resume and temperatures are set to remain above normal.

Lead Forecaster Keith Cooley with the national Weather Service in Paducah says high temperatures will be above seasonal averages reaching the upper 80s. He says temperatures will cool down a little bit during the weekend but will still be above normal.

This week’s forecast comes with no rain chances, and Cooley says he expects the dry conditions to linger into next week. Tropical Storm Imelda and Hurricane Humberto are set to be active in the Atlantic Ocean, but Cooley says the two storm systems are not expected to bring any rain to the region.

Despite the recent rain, Cooley says the drought conditions continue, but wildfire and brush fire risks have decreased.

Next week, Cooley says the above normal temperatures are expected to remain while precipitation levels are set to be near normal.
