The executive director of the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council is happy to see progress on several local economic development projects.
Appearing on WHOP last week, Executive Director Carter Hendricks says they were thrilled to finalize the details for Kitchen Food Company, who will be locating in the Hopkinsville spec building located in Commerce Park II—and thanks to a lot of work already being complete on the building, they should be up and running by this time next year.
That has allowed the EDC to reimburse the loans to city and county government. Hendricks says Toyota Boshoku is moving right along, with internal equipment testing underway and hiring beginning to take place.
As for western Kentucky’s largest industrial project, Ascend Elements, Hendricks says the case has moved from the courts to arbitration, so they’re hopeful that will be settled quickly, with Ascend planning to ramp up and finish off construction either by the end of this year or the start of 2026.
And of course, all of those industries will be looking to hire—if you or someone you know is looking for a new job or career change, head online to the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council website for more information.
