Festival of Trees kicks off at the Bruce Center

The Pennyroyal Center’s Festival of Trees kicked off on Friday at the Bruce Center to celebrate the holidays and raise money for the organization’s programs.

Last year, the festival took place at in downtown Hopkinsville, but moved to the Bruce Center because of an increase of participants. Zoe Edwards from the Pennyroyal Center says the festival includes 30 trees from a variety of local organizations and businesses. The festival also features an expanded vendor market with jewelry, sweet treats, woodworking and more.

Edwards says they have a wide array of trees that people could potentially win. Attendees can get a raffle ticket for $1 and put in a bag sitting in front of the tree they want to take home. The winners will be selected on Saturday and on Sunday they can pick up their tree.

Tree decorators will also be awarded for their work. Edwards says they will be giving out awards for most creative, kid’s choice, most festive, best decorated, best Pennyroyal Center tree and a battle of the trees between Hopkinsville and Christian County High Schools.

The winners will be announced next Monday. Edwards says the festival is one of her favorite events of the year and gets everyone into the holiday spirit.

The festival resumes on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bruce Center.
