Fire causes damage in South Main Street home

A home on South Main Street was damaged following a fire early Thursday morning.

According to Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Captain Payton Rogers, two stations responded to a home in the 1600 block of South Main for reports of smoke coming from a home just after 4:30 a.m. 

Access to the home was quickly established and searches were conducted, with no injuries reported.

A small fire was located in the basement and quickly extinguished. There was smoke damage, with firefighters able to contain it to the basement, and no fire extended to the upper floors.

Hopkinsville Fire Department Investigators are looking into the cause.
