Floodwaters impact Kentucky Fish, Wildlife public hunting areas

As parts of the state are still impacted by floodwaters, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is letting hunters know that remaining high water may impact access to hunting areas.

Spring turkey hunting season starts on April 12 and the department says many Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are in low lying areas near bodies of water and are still flooded. In western Kentucky nearly all WMAs have been impacted by high water and some access areas are completely submerged.

The department reminds hunters to not drive through areas with road closure signs or barricades.
