Fort Campbell is bidding farewell to outgoing Garrison Commander, Colonel Christopher Midberry, and welcoming incoming commander, Colonel James Snowden.
The change of command ceremony was set for Wednesday morning as Fort Campbell wished Col. Midberry well in his future endeavors—he’s heading to Washington D.C. to serve as the Chief of Staff to the Military District of Washington, Joint Task Force, National Capital Region.
As the garrison commander, Midberry oversaw the garrison through response efforts to the December 9, 2023, tornado in Clarksville, the response efforts to floods in Oak Grove and Clarksville in February and April, the upgrade of the TC Freeman Visitor Control Center and much more.
Colonel Snowden joins the U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Campbell as the next post in his military career. He was in 2002 as an Aviation officer from The United States Military Academy at West Point, and he holds a Bachelor of Science from West Point and a Master of Arts in Adult Education from Kansas State University.
He served in a variety of command and staff assignments in Aviation and Special Operations units. His most recent assignment was battalion commander of Task Force 1-160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment
