The Pennyrile Foster and Adoptive Parent Association is hosting a Zumbathon with the goal providing exercising fun and raising funds to support foster parents in the region.
Leslie Vass from the association appeared on WHOP recently to share more about the fundraiser as well as what work the nonprofit does in the region. Vass says the nonprofit is completely donation driven and provides support and training to foster and adoptive parents in the nine-county region.
Vass says one of her fellow volunteers came up with the idea of a Zumbathon and that the event will be hosted at the First Baptist Church Community Center at 1400 South Main Street from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, February 24.
Local Zumba instructors will be leading the exercises and the event is open to everyone with a $10 donation entrance fee. Vass says the funds they raise will go toward training for foster and adoptive parents and events for their families.
In the past, Vass says they have provided day training for parents where the nonprofit provided attendees with lunch and free childcare, and by raising funds they will be able to continue providing in-person training opportunities.
Along with funding their training, Vass says they also host events such as holiday parties, Easter egg hunts, trips to amusement parks and more for the foster and adoptive families.
More information about the association and their upcoming Zumbathon can be found on their Facebook at Pennyrile Foster and Adoptive Parent Association.
