We officially know who will be up for consideration to fill the Ward 8 City Council seat vacancy, after the City released the names of the applicants.
This comes following the resignation of now former City Councilman Seth Meek, who resigned in mid-March, leaving council until April 14 to select a candidate for that position. Should they fail to do so, the decision would be in the hands of Governor Andy Beshear. Meek had been serving his first term as the representative of Ward 8, having been sworn-in at the start of 2025.
Now, four people have put their names in the hat for the job, including current Ward 8 candidate Tiffany Pittman, Kathy Detraz, Robert Meek and Steven Mitchell.
According to a news release, the vacancy will be placed on the agenda for the April 7th City Council meeting, where council will conduct interviews of the candidates and vote in open session to choose the replacement.
