A new chapter in Christian County’s agricultural story is beginning as Genuine Fertilizer Solutions, L.L.C. prepares to open its first facility in Hopkinsville’s Industrial Park.
Backed by a $2.9 million investment, the new liquid fertilizer manufacturing plant is expected to bring 10 to 15 jobs to the area while strengthening the region’s farming industry.
According to a news release, Genuine Fertilizer Owner David Barbee envisions the company becoming a leader in innovative fertilizer solutions, building on the region’s agricultural strengths. He says he is thankful for the state and local support and looks forward to establishing the innovative fertilizer solution company as he believes it’s one of the best in the nation.
Local leaders say the project represents more than just economic growth, that it’s an investment in the community’s future. Hopkinsville Mayor J.R. Knight says the City of Hopkinsville is thrilled to support Barbee’s vision and believes the project is another major investment and opportunity for residents and businesses.
Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam says with the county being an agricultural community, he believes it is only fitting to have a state-of-the-art fertilizer manufacturer located in the county. He says he fully supports the project and looks forward to its long-term success.
South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Executive Director Carter Hendricks says the South Western Kentucky region is the state’s leading agricultural region with innovative agribusinesses paving the way for sustained growth and success and that they look forward to supporting their success and celebrating their future milestones.
